Artist Statement: 

Inspired by the determination of all members of the Kirkwood family to achieve their goals in gathering to Zion, I felt to capture on canvas that determination as it culminated in the ultimate sacrifice of James Kirkwood. I hoped to portray in the face of James Kirkwood, his desire to "fight his way through" and "finish the work he was given to do" in saving the life of his younger brother. Artist Biography: 

Julie Rogers has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brigham Young University and is currently painting professionally, as well as teaching part-time for Dixie State College. She has received numerous art awards, including ASCA International Art Show first place and Best of Show & People’s Choice Award in 2005 for the American Women Artists Juried Competition Exhibition in Dallas, Texas.
