Title of Painting: DAWN OF HOPE

Media Type: Oil

Dimensions of Painting: 30 "x40"

Artist Statement:

Some of the rescuers who found the Willie Company at the sixth crossing of the Sweetwater river turned back with those people while the rest continued east in search of the Martin Company. They assisted them ,as they could, over Rocky Ridge to Rock Creek Hollow. One journal indicates this may have taken nearly twenty-seven hours for the slowest. This painting depicts the Valley Boys, early in the morning of the 24th of October gathering up the stragglers who were in such desperate condition that they were helpless to continue.
