Some of the rescuers who found the Willie Company at the sixth crossing of the Sweetwater river turned back with those people while the rest continued east in search of the Martin Company. They assisted them ,as they could, over Rocky Ridge to Rock Creek Hollow. One journal indicates this may have taken nearly twenty-seven hours for the slowest.
